The Ahmanson Theatre opened on April 12, 1967 as part of the Los Angeles Music Center, designed by Welton Becket and Associates. It is programmed by Center Theatre Group with touring musicals, plays and revivals. A renovation completed in 1995 extended the balconies, lowered the ceiling and set the current 2,084-seat configuration.
The theatre is at the Music Center downtown, served by the Civic Center/Grand Park Metro station.
